Will your street win the Street Prize during the RUN anniversary edition?
All sorts of things happen along the route. Streets are decorated with festive displays full of colour, light and creativity. Residents pull out all the stops together to give the runners a warm welcome. That involvement has been one of the reasons for years why athletes from the Netherlands and abroad love coming to Winschoten.
In 2026, the RUN will be celebrating its 50th edition. That makes this Street Prize extra special. The anniversary year will be celebrated in a big way, and it should be visible along the route. This is the moment to create something together that fits with fifty years of RUN.
Join in and let your street shine
The RUN organisation is calling on all residents along the route to decorate their street or location as festively as possible on Saturday 12 September 2026. Whether you work together with the whole street or with a smaller group of residents: it is all about creativity, enthusiasm and fun.
During the RUN, a jury will judge which street or location stands out the most. Originality, appearance and effort play an important role in that.
What can you win?
- Street Prize: a barbecue gift voucher worth €500.
- Encouragement Prize: for a strikingly decorated house, building or smaller group of residents.
Safe and festive
When decorating the street, safety is important. Please take the following into account:
- no flammable materials.
- decorations must not hang too low.
- a minimum clearance height of 4.5 metres must be kept free.
This keeps the route safe for runners, spectators and the organisation.
Inspiration from previous editions
In the previous 2025 edition, the Street Prize went to Noorderstraat. The Encouragement Prize was won by Kamperfoeliestraat.
Together we make the anniversary visible
The decorated streets are inseparable from the atmosphere of the RUN. They give energy to the runners, add to the experience and turn Winschoten into one big sporting backdrop.
