For 50 years, RUN Winschoten has been a household name in the international running world. In 2026 we celebrate that milestone with an anniversary edition that will be bigger, more intense and more atmospheric than ever. For two days, Winschoten breathes sport. During the day and well into the evening.

Everything is perfectly organised, so you can focus
Behind the scenes, everything is in place:
- an officially measured, traffic-free course
- start and finish in one central location
- a lively runners’ village for relay teams
- food and drink, changing rooms and showers
- clear information for runners and supporters
All you have to do is run. The rest is taken care of.
Different from other races
What makes RUN Winschoten unique is everything around it. Tens of thousands of spectators are waiting for you. Streets turn into colourful party zones. Residents decorate their neighbourhood down to the smallest detail, compete for the street prize and turn every lap into an experience.
For ultra runners, it goes even further. Participants in the 50 and 100 km can eat and stay overnight with host families free of charge. International runners in particular make use of this. Many return every year. Not only for the race, but also for the crowd and the atmosphere.
Together we make the RUN possible
RUN Winschoten has existed for fifty years thanks to the commitment of many volunteers, the Municipality of Oldambt and the Friends of the RUN. Companies and organisations that do not stay on the sidelines, but actively contribute to the atmosphere, quality and continuity of the event. From international top athletics to youth, from volunteers to decorated streets: without these committed partners, the RUN would not be what it is today.
